Worship Wednesday

Have you heard of Casting Crowns? If not, check them out! They have some of the most powerful lyrics around, trust me!! This song I'm sharing today is one of their slower songs, but it's where my heart is at the moment. "Jesus, Jesus at Your feet...." mmm so beautiful!!  Lay your burdens down and allow the peace of God to pour over you as you sing this song to Jesus. :-)

P.S. Casting Crowns also has one of the best Christmas albums!

Worship Wednesday

Lyrics to Beautiful People By Jason Upton:
Turn down the radio, I wanna hear.
Turn down the voices, hurting my ear.
There's a moment, getting away...
and there's something, I wanna say.

Roll down the windows, and this is what you'll hear:
the sound of a stranger's voice in your ear...
Is it fear that, has kept you away?
From the song and the wind and the waves?

Saying: we can be friends, if you want to...
there's a friendship waiting... to be.
We can be friends, if you want to...
take my hand, be friends with me.

Beautiful music, memories and years...
of beautiful laughter and beautiful tears.
I's a beautiful morning today...
with the wind blowing... every which way.

Beautiful people... forgive and forget.
and eyes look like children, who haven't lost yet
Entrust us the strength of their love
disarms all the powers... that separate us.

Because: we can be friends, if you want to...
there's a friendship waiting to be.
We can be friends, if you want to...
take my hand, be friends with me.

Anointed Diva?!?!

Anointed Diva?

Have you seen this?

In the world of online social networking a person's "user name" is a powerful form of expression. It's the first thing people see before they view our profile or site. People have gone to great lengths to create user names that are unique and reflect their personalities, things they believe in and more. Lately I've noticed a number of women  calling themselves, "Anointed Diva" or some form of the same. In their profiles they usually describe themselves as a Christian and a diva.

Also, being saved for quite awhile, and working in a variety of positions (high and LOW) at church, I've seen this word used to describe young girls by parents, teachers and other church leaders because it seems cute. This makes no sense to me. So let me see if I can convince you as to why being labeled a diva is the opposite of what Jesus asks of us! :-)

First, let's establish what a "Diva" is.

According to Wikipedia, "A diva is a celebrated female singer. The term is used to describe a woman of outstanding talent in the world of opera"

Now that may be closer to the "real" definition, but it's definitely not the definition people are talking about when they call a woman a Diva today! To find out what a Diva is let's look at the Urban Dictionary.

Please excuse the language, but this is the truth about a DIVA!

Urban Dictionary:
-female version of a hustler.
a true diva will do anything to get what she wants.
-A bitchy woman that must have her way exactly, or no way at all. often rude and belittles people, believes that everyone is beneath her and thinks that she is so much more loved than what she really is. selfish, spoiled, and overly dramatic.
-A girl or woman with an exaggerated sense of self-importance. requiring a great deal of attention and excessive effort to maintain beauty, style and image.

-A woman who is usually perceived as bitch or self-absorbed, which in some cases they are. A diva is a woman who has self-confidence, self-respect, and hella swagger. She knows who she is and exactly where she is going. Her style and attitude are on point even when she is not trying.
-A woman with an attitude who needs to get what she wants.

Wow, right!?!? When I have a daughter no one better describe her as a diva! Seriously! I'd feel like a failure as a mother and spiritual leader to my child.

If we're baring "Diva fruit" chances are we're walking in the flesh and not in the Spirit. The fruit of a diva and the fruit of the Holy Spirit are completely different! One is about control and self, the other is about putting other people first!

Let's see what the Bible says about Spiritual Fruit; the evidence of God's work in us. The most famous verse about spiritual fruit is Galatians 5:22. In this verse Paul gives us a list of 9 fruit:

love
joy
peace
forbearance
kindness
goodness
faithfulness
gentleness
self-control.

The Message translation says, " But what happens when we live God's way? He brings gifts into our lives, much the same way that fruit appears in an orchard—things like affection for others, exuberance about life, serenity. We develop a willingness to stick with things, a sense of compassion in the heart, and a conviction that a basic holiness permeates things and people. We find ourselves involved in loyal commitments, not needing to force our way in life, able to marshal and direct our energies wisely."

Let's also see what the Bible says about love in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 The Message,

Love never gives up.
Love cares more for others than for self.
Love doesn't want what it doesn't have.
   Love doesn't strut,
   Doesn't have a swelled head,
   Doesn't force itself on others,
   Isn't always "me first,"
   Doesn't fly off the handle,
Doesn't keep score of the sins of others,
   Doesn't revel when others grovel,
Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth,
   Puts up with anything,
   Trusts God always,
   Always looks for the best,
   Never looks back,
But keeps going to the end.

In Colossians 3:12-16 The Message we are told to dress in a wardrobe God picked out for us,

"Dress in the wardrobe God picked out for you: compassion, kindness, humility, quiet strength, discipline. Be even-tempered, content with second place, quick to forgive an offense. Forgive as quickly and completely as the Master forgave you. And regardless of what else you put on, wear love. It's your basic, all-purpose garment. Never be without it."

Now let's see what the Bible says about the deeds of the flesh in Galatians 5:19-20 NIV,

"The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, faction, and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God. "

Whoa! Quite a contrast from the fruit of the Spirit, right?!?! Also, go back and read the definitions of a Diva, and then read the deeds of the flesh! Can you see some similarities?

This brings me back to my point. How can the word anointed and diva be used to described the same person? If you are anointed then you have been "dedicated to the services of God". If you are a diva you are dedicated to the services of yourself.

Forget about the word anointed now, how about just being a Christian? How can we describe ourselves as a Christian and a diva? They are complete opposites!

I've heard people defend Christians with a "diva attitude" by saying, "It's just the way they are, it's their personality." So, it's their personality to be self absorbed and mean to other people?

When we come into a relationship with Jesus Christ, He lives inside of us, and changes us! He takes the deeds of the flesh and replaces them with the fruit of the Spirit. Defending and enabling a Christian to continue walking in a "diva attitude" by saying, "it's just the way they are" is a huge disservice to the Body of Christ and to the individual displaying those characteristics.

When we act like Divas, we are not walking in the Spirit, and we are not acting like Jesus! If we are Christians, this should concern us. :-)

In finishing let me leave you with John 15:5 NIV, " I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit."

If we remain in Jesus we will bare HIS fruit, not DIVA fruit!

Worship Wednesday- With Everything

It's getting closer and closer to Christmas, the season that reminds us that God sent his everything into the world for us! Let's give our everything for Him. Let's allow the beginning of this new season to challenge us to give it all. Maybe you've been wishy-washy, carnal and unfaithful to The Faithful One. This is the day to make a change. Examine your heart and begin to give Him everything. I pray this song ministers to you and that the spirit of the Lord motivates you in all you do. :-)

Secret Affection

I'm surprised by some people's reaction to this new season of my life. I find it weird that people who have never made a point to talk to me, reach out, respond back, or who have never expressed their feelings toward me are now upset that I didn't share personal details of my life. It always throws me for a loop when this happens, when people expect to be treated like intimate friends when they've only act as acquaintances despite on going efforts on my part.

I'm not sure why we do that. Why do we expect to be included when we ourselves have not included?

Relationships are a two way street. We may feel very fond of someone in our heart, but until we share that with them how are they suppose to know? Sometimes we develop a relationship with someone in our hearts without it being a true picture of the actual relationship. This happens because we keep our fond feelings to ourselves and  assume the other person feels the same, when in reality the other person may feel very different. If another person has not given us a reason to believe our relationship is more, then maybe it isn't!

I for one, do not give myself away cheaply, at least when it comes to my inner circle. I love everyone and will be a blessing to the extent of my ability, but when it comes to those I allow close to my heart there has to be some give and take. God has a purpose for me and I'm not going to waste time chasing people down that seem uninterested. Neither should you!! In friendship there has to be mutual excitement about each other, a common interest and desire to know, include and share with one another. That's what friendship is!

If we want people to share their personal lives with us then we must be a safe place. Instead of getting mad when people don't share with us, we should ask, "Why didn't they feel safe with me?", "Maybe I didn't invest enough into them?", "Maybe I didn't participate in the nurturing of that relationship the way I should have?"...etc.

I believe it's arrogant to assume we hold any place in someone's life if we haven't even had an in-depth conversation with them. And even more arrogant to be upset with them for not freely giving us that place. How can someone be blamed for not knowing another person's secret affection toward them?

I think when people are genuinely nice, some may assume they can invest less into them, because every time they come face to face, that person is nice to them. But the truth is the person is not being nice to you because they consider you a friend, they are being nice to you because they are simply a nice person and are nice to everyone. I think people may assume that with me at times and maybe that's why they are hurt about the "surprise" changes in my life. Maybe they assumed they held a place they didn't?

I am sincerely saddened by those who may have been hurt, it was not intentional. At the same time I feel no responsibility to lug around guilt when there was no way for me to know that some felt closer to me than I did to them.

God Hardened Pharaoh's Heart

"But I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and though I multiply my signs and wonders in Egypt, he will not listen to you." - Exodus 7:3 NIV

"Go to Pharaoh, for I have hardened his heart and the hearts of his officials so that I may perform these signs of mine among them..." - Exodus 10:1 NIV

"God said to Moses: "Go to Pharaoh. I've made him stubborn, him and his servants, so that I can force him to look at these signs...." - Exodus 10:1 The Message

I always used to wonder why we'd look down on Pharaoh for not releasing God's people, when the Bible says over and over that it was God hardening Pharaoh's heart, so that God's power may be displayed before him.

God hardened Pharaoh's heart to force him to see His mighty works, and as a result, hopefully Pharaoh and his people would worship Him as God.  God knew what was in Pharaoh's heart, God was even able to dictate how Pharaoh's heart responded.

"Now the LORD had said to Moses, “I will bring one more plague on Pharaoh and on Egypt. After that, he will let you go from here, and when he does, he will drive you out completely." - Exodus 11:1 NIV

You see God knew! He told Moses what was going to happen next!

You may be wondering, well if God can control someone's heart, why doesn't He force people to believe in Him? That's what amazes me, God doesn't want to force people to love Him. He wants us to want to love Him. Isn't that the same with us? I wouldn't want someone being nice to me, loving me and spending time with me because I super naturally twisted their heart to do so, I'd want them to make the decision on their own. God is so merciful and gracious that He's willing to go the distance to prove Himself to us, that we may enthusiastically choose Him, even if that means leading us down a dark road just to see His light!

This story, about Moses and Pharaoh has always fascinated me to some extent.

I take the same principle I learned and apply it wherever I go. Instead of getting upset when we are faced with someone's hardened heart, learn to recognize it, and know that God has the ability to change hearts if He wanted to. Of course I pray, just in case it is the enemy trying to block my way, but after that if someone's heart remains hard, it may just be God's will for it to be so for His glory.

Worship Wednesday - Believe

I have to believe by Rita Springer

I have to believe
That He sees my darkness
I have to believe
He knows my pain
I have to lift up
My hands to worship
Worship His name

I have to declare

That He is my refuge
I have to deny
That I am alone
I have to lift up
My eyes to the mountain
It's where my help comes from

Oh yeah

He said that He's forever faithful
He said that He's forever true
He said that He can move mountains
If He can move mountains
He can move my mountain
He can move your mountain, too

Oh, I have to stand tall

When the wind blows me over
I have to stand strong
When I'm weak and afraid
I have to grab hold
Ahold of the garments
The garments of praise

I know, I know, I know
Cause He said that He's forever faithful
And He said that He's forever true
He said that He can move mountains
If He can move mountains
He can move my mountain
He can move your mountain, too

I have to sing praise

When the hour is midnight
He unlocks these chains
That bind up my soul
My sin and my shame
He has forgiven and made me whole

Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

Cause He said that He's forever faithful
And He said that He's forever true
He said that He can move mountains
He said that He can move mountains
He said that He can move mountains
If He can move mountains
He can move my mountain
He can move your mountain, too

I have to believe

I have to believe
He's got everything under control
I have to believe
Lord, I believe
Help my unbelief
I have to believe in You
I have to believe

Busy, Busy...

Wow, October has been extremely busy for me to say the least! It's been a wonderful type of busy though...
I GOT MARRIED!!

We decided to have a super small ceremony (six people), and save the rest of our "wedding budget" for a future down payment on a home, whether that be this year, next year or whenever. I know that's not the best decision for everyone, but it was for us and God blessed us with tremendous peace. It's like a huge weight lifted off our shoulders when we settled in our hearts to do what we felt peace about, and were not given to the pressure of "tradition".

After we got married my husband and I went on a 5 day honeymoon! I was thrilled to spend  time with my man, but I was also excited to see my brother again! My brother left for boot camp months ago and I hadn't see him since. He just so happened to be stationed near us for those 5 days (okay we planned it that way *smile*). We didn't spend every day with him, but we did make a point to meet up several times! It was such a blessing to me! After we got back from our trip we spent another 5 days moving my stuff into my husband's apartment.

While moving I ended up spraining my ankle when I tripped over the curb while stuffing my stuff into my husband's trunk...ouchy!! Praise the Lord I didn't sprain my ankle to bad. I was only stuck in bed and hopping around for 1.5 days. Then I was able to walk, but not work out. I tried working out, but the pain started up again so I just took it easy. After a week or so of doing nothing strenuous (just shopping ha-ha) I think I'm finally ready to work out again.

I've had a blast shopping with my husband this past two week! I'm so thankful I married my best friend! We simply love spending time together because of the friendship we've developed over the years.

I  love creating a home for us and filling it with joy and laughter! This season has been so amazing and it's just beginning! I can't wait to see all the God change that unfolds in the months to come!

Worship Wednesday

IT'S WORSHIP WEDNESDAY! LOVE IT!

"Your presence is all I’m longing for here in the secret place
Your nearness is all I’m waiting for here in the quiet place, here in the secret place
My soul waits for you alone
Like the watchmen wait for dawn
Here I’ve finally found the place
Where we’ll meet, Lord, face to face
I’ve finally found where I belong, I’ve finally found where I belong, In Your presence
I’ve finally found where I belong, to be with You, to be with You
I am my Beloved’s and He is mine, so come into Your garden and take delight in me
Take delight in me (x2)
Delight in me, Delight in me
Delight in me, Delight in me
Here in Your presence, God, I find my rest
Here in Your presence, God"
Do you ever feel like you don't fit in? Like there's no place for you? Well there is! His presence! This song has blessed me so much over the years. Turn it up and sing! His presence is the one place we're ALWAYS welcome! It doesn't matter how far we fall or how out of place we feel in this world, His presence is SAFE for us!

Worship Wednesday

I haven't officially introduced Jonathan David Helser yet, but trust me, I will in a few months! This is just a sneak peek of one of my favorite worship leaders! This song is called, "Just One Drop". This video features many artists I enjoy, like John Mark McMillan (Jonathan's left (your right)) playing the guitar in the back ( most of you know him as the song writer of How He Loves, the song Kim Walker is known for! Does that ring a bell??), also Stephan Roach in the blue (Jonathan's right side (your left)), then there is Leo Jones (Jonathan's far right (your left)) but you can hardly see him. His CD is really good too. Then there is still Amber Brookes in the "choir". She has a few amazing songs that I may feature sometime as well! So yea, so many amazing artists on stage beside Jonathan! Tons of talent!! :)

Anyway I pray this song ministers to you! No matter what you're going through it only takes one tiny drop of God to CHANGE EVERYTHING! Sing this song out in faith over your situation and watch God do mighty things in your behalf! God bless!

Fall - My favorite time of year

Fall is my favorite time of year! I love the warm colors, cool weather and wonderful smells it brings. So, today I thought I'd share a little of my fall fun! :-)

I started the season off by pulling out some fall decor!

I put fall mats in the kitchen and by the front door!

I bought a set of glass pumpkins for the counter :-)

I also put a fall center piece on the table, along with a fall runner

Several Fall candle holders!
Another exciting part of the fall season is food! I personally love making/buying all sorts of pumpkin desserts. Last night I saw a pumpkin roll at the store, and had to try it. I'd love to make my own this year as well!

OH and we can't forget one more delicious pumpkin dessert this season, thanks to Starbucks!
Pumpkin Spice Frap!!

YUM!!!!

This is just the beginning! I hope to share more Fall fun with you!!

...rather than in the daytime

But because he was afraid of his family and the townspeople, he did it at night rather than in the daytime.- Judges 6:27 NIV

Sometimes doing what God's asked us to do is hard because it goes against our culture. "What's popular is not always right, and what is right is not always popular", so we may be tempted to do what's right in secret, just like Gideon (take some time a read the story).

Is this a good or bad idea? What do you think? Does it really matter if we obey the Lord in secret as long as we obey?

I'd love to hear your thoughts! :-)

Today's featured song is, "My Soul Longs For You" by Misty Edwards and  the "One Thing" worship team, from IHOP ministries. This song brings me back to 2007ish, but don't worry, it's just as powerful today. I love "One Thing" conferences, especially the music, because many of the songs are spontaneous. Enjoy the video and have a blessed Wednesday everyone! :-)

When we are confused...

When we are confused about what we should do it is usually because what we want and what God wants for us are not the same - John Paul Jackson

Monday, September 19, 2011

Pardon me, my Lord

When the angel of the LORD appeared to Gideon, he said, “The LORD is with you, mighty warrior.”
“Pardon me, my lord,” Gideon replied,
“but if the LORD is with us, why has all this happened to us? - Judges 6:12-13 NIV

Wow! Does that sound familiar? Have you ever felt this way? "God IF you are with me then WHY in the world am I going through this? "  That's what Gideon wanted to know!
Often times life doesn't go the way we want. We have a vision of what should happen and when it doesn't we feel hurt, left out, over looked and even betrayed by God. I can imagine that's what Gideon was going through. He heard about all these promises God had given his ancestors, and yet the opposite was happening in his current situation.
"Where are all his wonders that our ancestors told us about when they said, ‘Did not the LORD bring us up out of Egypt?’ But now the LORD has abandoned us and given us into the hand of Midian.” - Judges 6:13 NIV
The Lord says to Gideon, "Go in the strength you have and save Israel out of Midian’s hand. Am I not sending you?”  God gave him authority! God told him to go save Israel out of the enemies hands! (How many of you know when you start asking why this or that is happening instead of something else, you are the perfect candidate to be SENT as an agent of change for that situation?)  God didn't wipe out the enemy with His extraordinary power, which He could have. Instead, He SENT Gideon to take what was his. I believe this is true for us many times. We are waiting for God to do something huge, and yet God is waiting for us.
Gideon replies, “but how can I save Israel? My clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my family.”
Don't we do the same thing?!?! God gives us a solution to our problem that requires a little action on our part and we shrink back in fear, "Me? How? There's no way!", but God answers Gideon, “I will be with you, and you will strike down all the Midianites, leaving none alive.”
God is saying the same thing to our shrinking back, fearful hearts, "I WILL be with you!" When He's sends us, we don't go alone! We go with Him!

He IS with us!

He is FOR us!

No matter our situation, we never face it alone. Do we trust Him to use us?

Comforting verses:
Do not be afraid of them; the LORD your God himself will fight for you. - Deuteronomy 3:22

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go. - Joshua 1:9

The LORD is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid? - Psalm 27:1

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.
- Psalm 23:4

"God is our refuge and strength,
an ever-present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way
and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,
though its waters roar and foam
and the mountains quake with their surging."
-Psalm 46

Believe

Overhearing what they said, Jesus told him, "Don't be afraid; just believe." - Mark 5:36

The Lord is "overhearing" the doubt and unbelief others are speaking into your situation and He's saying to you the same thing he said Jairus ,  "Don't be afraid; just believe."

JUST BELIEVE
because ALL things are possible to those who believe

Dew only on the fleece

When we believe God has spoken to us, it's okay to ask for confirmation. I believe God is more than willing to confirm His word in our life. God is not the master of confusion! He wants us to do what He said, more than we want to do it!

There is a great story in the Bible about Gideon. In Judges 6, Gideon feels defeated and lacks confidence. He doesn't believe he can accomplish what God's asked him to do, so he does what most of us do. He begins to wonder if it's really God speaking to him. He says to the Lord,  “If now I have found favor in your eyes, give me a sign that it is really you talking to me...(Judges 6:17NIV) " And you know what? God gave him a sign! He actually gave him several signs! :-)

I encourage you to read Judges 6 and learn about the whole story! I love how Gideon is just a human as any of us. He wrestles with the same concerns and humbly asks the Lord to confirm that it's truly Him speaking in his life. Be encouraged! Asking for confirmation is not being faithless, it's being wise!

One car family?

Being a one car family seems crazy to many people, but it's working for many others. I guess it depends how you look at it. My fiance and I have been weighing the pros and cons, praying and even fasted about selling his car, and living with only mine (since it's paid off). I must admit I've been more anxious about this idea than my fiance. He seems really confident about the decision and today we finally went through with it.
I predominantly work from home, so sharing the car wont be as hard as it is for other couples who both work outside of the home. Plus, now that the car is gone, we will start married life together completely debt free. We will also be approved for a bigger loan when we start looking for our 1st home next year and we will be able to start saving what once was the car payment. So there are a lot of positives. The negatives include (when we are married) lack of freedom, more planning for errands and lack of security (ultimately God is our security, so our faith will be stretched).
We'd like to live our whole lives debt free, except for our future mortgage. Our goal is to eventually save enough to by a 2nd car in cash, Lord willing. Honestly, I don't know if I could ever buy a "new" car again. It seems like such a waste of money, but we'll see!
As my old pastor used to say, God wants us to be the "lender and not the borrower, the head and not the tail, above only and not beneath". I want to live free! When we are in-debt we are a slave to that debt  and we have to live according to man in some cases. But when we are debt free we can live free, in bondage to no one. We are allowed to follow God's will and not the will of those we owe.
I will keep you posted as this new season unfolds, trust me there are a bunch of surprises coming! :-)

Worship Wednesday

Everything was done so YOU would come!

God wants you! He's not mad at you! He's waiting with open arms.

Before the world began
You were on His mind
And every tear you cry
Is precious in His eyes
Because of His great love
He gave His only Son
Everything was done
So you would come

Nothing you can do

Could make Him love you more
And nothing that you've done
Could make Him close the door
Because of His great love
He gave His only Son
Everything was done
So you would come

Come to the Father

Though your gift is small
Broken hearts, broken lives
He will take them all
The power of the Word
The power of His blood
Everything was done
So you would come

1 John 2:27 NIV

As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit—just as it has taught you, remain in him. - 1 John 2:27 NIV

Good things He planned for us...

“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” Ephesians 2:10 NLT
I don't know about you, but this verse excites me. This verse fills me with hope for the future!
I'm God's masterpiece!
God created me anew!
God has good things planned for me to do!
How can we read that and not get pumped up about our tomorrows? Anytime a cloud of depression comes I pull out this verse and MANY others like it. You can't continually read the Bible without realizing one thing, God has a plan. He knows what He wants and what's best. This floods my heart with peace because I don't have to know all the answers. I don't have to see the end from the beginning. The full picture belongs to Him, not us. All we have to do is activate our faith. One of the best ways to do that is to speak His words over our lives.
When you start feeling sad and hopeless, as if there's no point to your life, REMIND YOURSELF,
"God planned GOOD things for me to do long ago!"
Speak that aloud for your ears to hear it!
"God planned GOOD things for me to do long ago!"
Say it AGAIN
"God planned GOOD things for me to do long ago!"

We have to learn to encourage ourselves in the Lord just like David did!
"David encouraged and strengthened himself in the Lord his God." (1 Samuel 30:6 AMP)
This is the main message of my purpose book. I know all to well how it feels to feel purposeless, hopeless and depressed - trust me!  In my purpose book I share the very things God used to encourage me to encourage you! I show the reader how to encourage themselves in the Lord the same way the Holy Spirit showed me. My goal is to inspire, fill with hope and excite everyone who comes across my purpose book. God has a plan!!! And each chapter in my book will highlight a little bit of this plan!

I shall not pass this way again...

"I expect to pass through this world but once. Any good thing, therefore, that I can do or any kindness I can show to any fellow human being let me do it now. Let me not defer nor neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again." Stephen Grellet, 1773-1855 French-born Quaker Minister

Coming back to what matters

“A farmer went out to sow his seed.  As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up. Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow. But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root. Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants. Still other seed fell on good soil, where it produced a crop—a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.  Whoever has ears, let them hear.”
-Matthew 13:2-9 NIV

“Listen then to what the parable of the sower means: When anyone hears the message about the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in their heart. This is the seed sown along the path.  The seed falling on rocky ground refers to someone who hears the word and at once receives it with joy.  But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away. The seed falling among the thorns refers to someone who hears the word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the word, making it unfruitful.  But the seed falling on good soil refers to someone who hears the word and understands it. This is the one who produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.”
- Matthew 13:18-23 NIV

I want to focus this blog on, "the seed falling among the thorns". The Word of God says this, "refers to someone who hears the word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the word, making it unfruitful." How many of you have worries about life? I know I do sometimes! Our worries leave us open to deceitfulness, because we start looking for worldly things to meet our needs. I'd like to encourage you to, "come back to what matters". That's how the Lord spoke it to me. Most of us start out fine and balanced, but as time goes on the thrones grow in around us, we begin to choke. In these seasons, when we are grasping for air, we need to recognize the root of our suffocation and struggle - (root: worry, the cares of the world and the deceitfulness of wealth.)

I was inspired to write this because of my own struggles lately.  I began feeling like the worries of life were choking out the good seeds that had been sown.  Worries about money, weight, family...just LIFE. I found myself not being as fruitful as I wanted to be. The Lord spoke to me using these verses and I'm passing them on to you. If we don't cut/pull worry from our life, it will grow up, and choke every good, perfect and beautiful thing the Lord is growing in us- just like a garden taken over by weeds.

How is wealth deceitful?  Wealth is deceitful because it keeps us craving more. We believe if we acquire just a little bit more we'll be okay, but once we reach that goal, we want more...on and on the cycle goes. Before we know it we are worshiping money and NOT God. The truth is if we focus on God, God will take care of our LIFE.

I feel like I was tested  and held accountable by the Lord with this very thing this week, "the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth" began choking the word in my heart. I feel blessed to have such a relationship with God, that I still hear and recognize His red flags in my life. I pray that never changes. I never want to be taken over by thorns.

Since the Lord brought this to my attention, I've fixed my eyes back on Him (right where they belong), and I'm healing from the emotional roller coaster the enemy took me on and my heart is coming back to what matters most - my dependency and trust in God.

I want to be good soil for God's word, so I will produce a crop as the Bible says.

Worship Wednesday

Today for Worship Wednesday I'm sharing a blog I wrote back on September 19, 2009, a day after going to a Kim Clement event. This blog gives an account of what I experienced at Kim's event. I hope it blesses you! People have mixed feelings about Kim, but one thing is for sure, his music ministry is powerful. I've never entered into worship at Kim's event and not been touched by God in an intimate way.

"The Kim Clement event last night was amazing, like always. He walked on stage and started singing “The enemy is trying to suffocate you and steal your breathe away but I will deliver you” from that song he began speaking about “python” and “divination.” He used the verse in Acts 16:16-19 about the girl who followed Paul around crying out “These men are servants of the Most High God, who proclaim to you the way of salvation.” He said many who are trying to prophesy and speak over our lives are only using a familiar spirit and are sucking the life out of us. Kim never allows anyone he does not know to speak over him for that reason. Prophesy should allow you to take a much needed breathe in,

“Prophecy never suffocates but lets you breathe.”

He explained that when God breathes out (prophesy) you take a breath in, which then allows you to breathe out (prophesy) to others. But many in the church are listening to python, which prophesies what the enemy sees and thinks about you and your situation NOT what God sees. I can personally attest to this. I’ve allowed people I did not know to pray and speak over me and I left in chains, not free! I have since then learned to put my foot down. I’m not trying to be rude but if I don’t know you don’t ask to pray or speak over me.

Kim continued teaching about how he never watches the News anymore, not because he doesn’t like it but because it suffocates him and he rather speak to God about God’s deeds rather than his needs. The news says one thing BUT “What does God have to say about that?” which lead him to sing a song about American, “America, America you are salt to the world, America American you are light.” From there he started teaching about how we need to speak life into our future, “Our today is the tomorrow we didn’t sow into” so sow into your future and when tomorrow comes you will have a harvest waiting for you. We have today what we spoke about yesterday!

“If you are unhappy today it’s because you didn’t sow into it.”

Every deed is a seed for tomorrow but if we can’t see it we won’t sow it which started him on the subject of revelation. “Revelation is seeing what is not seen” but when we get revelation it induces an action based on what was heard. God is waiting to hear Himself in us and when He does it will move Him in our behalf. We were each created as originals and God is waiting to see us walk in that originality; not trying to copy and mimic other “anointed” people but releasing the voice He placed inside of us. When we begin to speak what God is speaking the way He created us to do it, He will draw near. Like for me personally I can pray all day and have an awesome time with Jesus but something special happens when I begin to write in my journal. I have more prayers answered in a physical way and in dreams when I write poetry, prayers, and journal entries in my journal. Some people it may be singing, painting or playing the guitar whatever it may be release the fire in you the way God created you too.

Anyway in closing Kim mentioned how he sometimes feels sad leaving an event because he’s leaving something special that has been released in the atmosphere and he does not want to part with it. I thought that was really neat and confirmation to me because many times when I leave certain prophetic events I get very sad. I’ve even found myself crying once. I prayed and asked the Lord what was this inside of me. For years the best way I was able to explain it was like “coming down from a spiritual high” though I still don’t completely understand it. It’s like having your head in the clouds and coming back down. How can anything compare to the presence of God? It can’t! Everything else is dull compare to Jesus!

I once read a story about a man who died and visited heaven and then was brought back to life. He spoke about going through sadness. How could he have been in such a place like heaven and see it’s splendor and then come back to earth and be happy? Nothing compares to where he had just been, everything else is dull and lifeless compared to what he just experienced. In the same sense something powerful happens when we gather with a group of believers and prophesy and sing songs to God. Though we can and should do it alone every day and continually in our spirits it’s still extra special when we all come together and hard to part with that intensity"

Easily Dissatisfied

"Whatever is TRUE, whatever is NOBLE, whatever is RIGHT, whatever is PURE, whatever is LOVELY, whatever is ADMIRABLE- if anything is EXCELLENT or PRAISEWORTHY- think about such things." - Philippians 4:8 NIV

The last few years God has done amazing things for me. I couldn't go a day without thanking Him over and over for making a way where there seemed to be no way. But the past few days I had a little bit of a negative attitude. I searched my heart and found that I had taken my eyes off of Jesus and put them on other people's blessings. Let me tell you, the fastest way to become dissatisfied with what we once considered a blessing is to start envying other people's stuff. We're all running our own race. God is not taking all of us down the same road. That's why we shouldn't compare ourselves, it's apples and oranges.

If you're like me, and have found that you aren't rejoicing in the things you once rejoiced over,  search your heart, and see if you, like me, have taken your eyes off of Jesus and put them on other people's material gain. The fastest and shortest road to "Ungrateful-ville" is to envy others.

I always try to keep a thankful and grateful heart about everything, because God truly has done great things for me (and you). So a red flag pops up when I begin feeling depressed, sad or negative in some way. Let those things be a red flag to you as well. Remind yourself that God IS FOR you! God LOVES you! And God DOES provide! Praise always precedes the victory! Whereas, envy always precedes a down fall!

The enemy and our carnal nature love reminding us of everything we don't have, and conveniently FORGET to remind us of what we DO have. It's our job to encourage ourselves in the Lord and  remind ourselves!

Don't allow other people's gain to destroy the joy you once had over your answered prayers!
